Inferno: Infeccion mundial

Excerpt: The Costa Rica News, 1988
“Lost: Tico Thrash Metal band “Inferno”. Last seen practicing in their garage in Heredia, Costa Rica, emulating their idols Megadeth, Sodom, Overkill, Metallica, and Slayer (amongst others). If found, please contact…”

Excerpt: Costa Rica Pages, 1988
“… meanwhile the case of the missing thrash band continues to baffle police. Though the garage in which Inferno were practicing shows signs of an explosion, though no sign of the artists themselves can be found. Police are now questioning locals…”

Excerpt: Inside Costa Rica, 1988
“… neighbors say there was a bright flash, and suddenly the band just disappeared…”

Excerpt: The Tico Times, 1989
“… scientists now believe the explosion caused by the mingling of cables did not in fact injure the band, but instead thrust them into the future, rather like the time machine in “Back to the Future”…”

Excerpt: www.navegalo.com, 2008
“… the long awaited reappearance of Inferno today occurred causing quite a stir, justifying the much maligned opinions of the scientists who, back in 1989, predicted that the band had somehow turned their garage into a time machine. When questioned what they will do next, the fresh faced youths said they will get on with the business of recording their first demo and continue strive for international success…”

OK, all of the above is a load of bullshit. But how the fuck else can I explain this band’s existence? This band is so rooted into the ‘80s thrash sound that it makes the above explanation all too plausible.

But wait, before you think I’m pissing on the band, let me just say this: if you love ‘80s thrash (like me), you will enjoy this demo. There are some pretty damn fine tunes here, all well played and certain to get you forming a one man moshpit in your living room. Certainly these guys need some better production, but that will come should they get signed to a label. I would also like to see a second guitarist introduced to the band, particularly for the guitar solos where a rhythm guitar would have improved the overall sound. Other than that, this is a damn fine demo and a band I hope to see given more opportunities in the future.

Viva thrash, motherfuckers!
